Host A Party
Birthday parties, house warming parties, and holiday parties – we love them all! A birthday is reason enough to celebrate, right? That end-of-school bash doesn’t need to be paired up with a second theme, does it?
Well, of course not. We have parties all the time for one reason or another, yet we can’t help but notice that the icing is that much tastier and the company is that much more enjoyable knowing that in addition to celebrating whatever your occasion, we are making the world just a little better by helping kids on the other side of the world take one more step towards to achieving their dreams.
If you’re reading this letter, we are hopeful that you feel the same way, too. We all go to parties. We all love them. So why not follow some super easy tips to give your party (cocktail, St. Patrick’s Day, birthday, or otherwise) a little more meaning and a little more depth? We bump into all kinds of people like you looking for ways to help kids in Africa. Some of those individuals are the ones that inspired us to create this tool kit. You’re already having a party…you want to make a difference…why not put a donation basket on the table or recruit your friends to sign up for Ellie’s Run for Africa on May 22, 2010?!
The digital toolkit has all the tips and advice you need to make your party stand out with purpose:
- Welcome Letter (What You’re Reading Now, but in a downloadable format)
- Africa Fact Sheet
- Idea One-Sheet
- Printable Posters, which can also be used as your Facebook/Twitter profile picture
Take a look at the resources listed (from top to bottom) and use your creativity to find ways to incorporate some of these ideas (and hopefully your own!) into your party.
Don’t forget to share your pictures and memories from the evening with us; we’d love to hear from you! We’re always looking for ways to make this toolkit better, so send your tips and ideas, along with your pictures to info@elliesrun.org.
If your party crowd pitched in a few bucks and made some cash for the kids in Kibera, you can send your checks and/or money orders, payable to African Leadership, PO Box 2888, Brentwood, TN 37024-2888 (MEMO LINE: ERFA).
We are thrilled that you’re in with this whole party idea. In the U.S., gestures like raising $25 doesn’t seem life changing, but in Kibera, you are helping a child go to school, and that is no small thing.
Welcome to the journey!
